  • The sick pay alone isn't bad. Places are massively cutting back on sick pay

As a finger in the air, consider LGPS membership equivalent to a 25% contribution to a DC pension scheme typical in the private sector. (For comparison, my employer pays 5%.)
  • 29 days off is nice - we get 28 days after 5 years of 'service'

Hard to compare salaries without knowing what you do

No-one's going to have the faintest idea if you don't say what you do and the location.
  • It depends how much you value these things.

If your question is "based on this how much could I ask for if I took a job in the private sector", the answer is "as much as you can get away with depending on how much they want you".

Assuming they can get other people to do the job, then if you had none of those benefits they would still be unlikely to offer you any more than 20K, if that, for an equivalent post.
  • Just a office based job. I am trying to get a idea of how much what my basic pay plus benefit is worth compare to the private sector with different benefit doing the same job, same hours, same location.

    50%???

You're overestimating, I'd have said about 48% personally....

Are you really suggesting that you think somebody in the private sector doing a broadly similar job would be earning twice as much as you? Alternatively are you suggesting they would only earn half as much as you?
    Either way you're wrong.
  • In lower grade jobs (anything under £30k) I would have thought that the rate would be broadly the same, to be honest. Where are you getting the idea that those in the private sector are paid more? And if you are getting this idea from a reputable source, doesn't that answer your question?
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • I am not saying the private sector are currently paying more.

My question is if I were to trying to find another job with same job title, same hours, same distant, how much should I go for without the benefit of working for the public sector.
