Why do some comps allow multiple entry? What's in it for them?

Just wondering why some comps allow multiple entry and what's in it for them?
I can understand multiple chances by liking or following things but why do some allow multiple entries where you just fill your name and email in? Why not just let everyone enter once?

my guess would be more clicks/visits to their page, brings the stats upThanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

With some comps (ITV, Bauer radio etc.) there is a premium rate text or phone entry as well as the free entry - so there is more revenue to be earned if people enter multiple times.
As laura says, others do it to bring the stats up - leading to higher advertising revenue, and a higher ranking on search engines.
The most basic reason is to improve brand recognition - you might forget the name of a company where you entered a comp once last November, but if you entered it 5 times every day in November there is more chance you will remember it.0
