A quick update
I made some panackes and scones which the kids loved. Thanks again for your suggestions.
Love people use things. The opposite never works.0 -

HM custard is 1 pint milk, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons cornflour, 100g sugar, vanilla extract (or pod, or vanilla sugar).
Beat the eggs, sugar and corn flour in a large heatproof bowl until smooth and lump free.
Bring the milk to almost boiling in a pan (if using vanilla pod, heat in the milk).
Pour the milk slowly into the eggs and stir (important not to add the eggs to the milk or it goes lumpy).
Turn down the heat to low and pour the mix back into the pan
Stir continuously on a low heat for a couple of minutes until it's the thickness you want.
If using vanilla essence, stir in.
Serve.
Stores brilliantly in the fridge, and then it can just be heated in the microwave, using a little extra milk to thin it slightly.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0
