I have recently opened a Virgin Essentials current account as StepChange advised me to open a basic account before going BR. Now I'm wondering if it's likely to be frozen when I take the plunge.
There won't be much money in there and only a couple of direct debits. If likely to be frozen why do StepChange recommend opening a new account in advance? Can it be unfrozen, is that possible?
My main account (which I have been using for years up until this point) I'm withdrawing what cash there may be and writing it off.

I opened a basic account the day after being declared BR.
At my interview a couple of days later I was asked if I needed to keep my main account open (the pre-BR one) I said I had a new basic account and I wouldn't use the old one again.
I was told to contact the OR if the old one was frozen and I needed it. They would fax the bank and ask for it to be re-opened.
However I'm 7 weeks in now and the old one is still open.I've been around the world and I I I I ..... changed my username :shhh:0 -
Sounds good! Helpful to know that it's possible to un-freeze (thaw?).0
