Serving notice

Any advice would be apreciated ! :)
I recently bought my first house in Dec , I had the keys in my hand but the vendors where still moving out . I had a removal van waiting , wages lost due to moving house , wasted fuel etc . I was advised by my solicitor to serve notice which meant any money lost I could claim back . After gathering reciepts and a formal letter from my employer to say how much I lost out etc , my solictor forwaded me an email from the vendors solicitors saying they would not be paying back any costs . My solicitor basically did not want to help me anymore and advised me taking this case to a small claims would cost me more in the long run . Has anybody had this happen if so is it worth the hassle over the principal. ?? Thanks in advance any help on this

You serve notice to complete if they fail to complete on completion day.

How many days are we saying they failed to honour the contract?

Surely this is a wind up. 6pm is too late to do anything?? So you slept in the vans?

I can see it being a bit irritating to be completing later in the day than expected, but it is still completion on the correct day. I've never seen a condition about there needing to be a certain amount of daylight!
