Does anyone have any idea how to see if a charging order / restriction has been removed?

Apply for copies to the title of your property via the Land Registry. doesn't cost a great deal, and section C - the "Charges register" will confirm.

In England and Wales Charging orders can be protected on the register either as a restriction (B Proprietorship Register) or as a Notice (C Charges Register). See our Practice Guide for more details. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/charging-orders

You can view, download and search the register online for £3. https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry
