lender checking with employer

Leeds have just said they requested confirmation of salary, employment etc from employer. They didn't say how they did this. I dread if it's by mail as everything seems to be going so quickly with email!0

I know many banks will be happy to just use payslips, unless there is a specific reason for request a reference- for example a wage increase which doesn't yet show on the paslips. With the Royal Mail in my experience they only confirm basic income and refuse to verify anything elseI am a Mortgage Adviser

I was told that by someone else, that even a written request doesn't sway Royal Mail to give up information on their staff and they are rather stand offish about being asked to verify stuff other than yep, they work here and nope no issues with employment. If they do this though will the lender just use payslips and bank statements? Oh hours changed (increased) but they called it a temp change until further notice and hr just said it's at his managers discretion, so how can they determine his basic? Will it be on the hours he is currently working? Or potentially working? RM aren't even very clear on this with their employees. Stress!0

Husband called HR today and they said they couldn't discuss his salary etc?? I really, really hope this doesn't complicate things. Any brokers used Leeds BS and able to advise???0

Spoke to Leeds regarding the possibility that HR may refuse to give them information (they say even a written request would be breach of DPA as legally they don't have to disclose the information) and they have just said, "we've requested the information and we'll see what happens." This is not filling husband with hope as how long would LBS wait on a response before realising they'd been refused the information if RM doesn't want to play ball? Husband asked manager if he could fax a letter over HR authorising the information, but was told they wouldn't accept it as he has proof of his employment/contract and payslips to prove it and it's really just a case of them being picky.
Slowly feel this is turning to a nightmare.0
