I'm really surprised that a car dealer would accept an Amex card or any credit card without adding the card transaction fee to the bill.

You have to take into account the sign-up and referral bonuses and companion vouchers as well. If a couple both get AmEx cards and refer each other you can earn the required Avios with much less spend.

I am more than happy paying £900 for the 3 of us going to South Africa with Emirates in May from Manchester and £700 for the 3 of us going to Langkawi and Penang in November with Malaysian Airlines from London.

I think if you are savvy and flexible enough you can travel cheap.

We got loads through Tesco's, although that seems to be drying up.


Topcashback was a nice easy one & Tesco bank for insurance
