Hi there everyone. My partner and I are first time buyers. We have our deposit and know in theory we can borrow what we need to.
Were viewing properties now and will be looking at getting an AIP. Those bits were clear on.
However our mortgage adviser talked us through the scrutiny involved in the mortgage application itself and it got me worried. Although my income is well clear of what a mortgage would be (over 1000 clear per month) I have for the last 18 months put most of my disposable income into a savings account to get a deposit together. This has involved dipping into my overdraft at the end of each month more or less consistently.
Now im worried when they come to scrutinise bank statements a computer would conclude ive got more outgoings than income. Obviously it was just for the purpose of saving! Its the sort of thing I could easily explain to a human but I dont know if you get that opportunity. Any words of advice would be appreciated.

As kingstreet says.
They do check bank statements but very few lenders will scrutinise them - they are looking for anything irregular or not declared.
