Case Manager

Hi.
I went Bankrupt 2 weeks ago and was told I now have a case manager.
What is a case manager please? I've googled it and still don't know.

  • What you would call the official receiver (OR) on here . In reality very few deal with the actual official receiver ... usually a case worker in the OR office.
They will be the ones who will look through your file, call for an interview and set up a IPA if required.
  • I've had my interview with th examiner and have no IPA.
She told me I know have a case manager but I don't know what she's for.
  • Where do you live cannonfodder? (bankruptcy rules can vary from country to country)
Not quite a newbie as you think ;);) (the member formally known as philnicandamy!)

FINALLY a qualified CAB debt caseworker 2015..:p
    BSC 58 :D
  • As others have said, it's a deputy of the OR and they deal with matters on their behalf. If you ever have correspondence from a case officer via email or perhaps post it can look like below. I've changed the name for obvious reasons.

    A Smith| Case Officer| OR Birmingham
  • its your point of contact at the OR's office for the duration of the bankruptcy, should you need to contact them (change of circumstances etc) and vica versa

My experience was that the case manager is the admin person that the examiner (who tends to do the initial interview etc) passes work on to - so your main email contact for the rest of your year. I did find however that mine didn't seem to have much authority so one or two questions I had were passed back to the examiner. After about 6 months the case was passed to the long term team who then just oversee things till the year comes to an end (or longer for those of us with and IPA) I bet you'll hardly ever hear from any of them now.
