I have a CCJ that I have been paying off for about 10 years by an attachment of earnings. I'll be up front about it, I did it deliberately. I don't need credit and I already had bank accounts and a credit card.
The attachment of earnings is a bit of a misnomer as I'm retired so it's an attachment of pension. The reason is because of an acrimonious dispute with my step-daughter when my husband died and she decided to try and put me in a home and take the house.
The solicitor's and barrister's fees came to almost exactly what I had in the bank and the invoices were totally incomprehensible and I'm an accountant and couldn't make head nor tail of them. I know that I was double charged on three invoices coming to an overcharge of approx £6k, I just couldn't prove it.
I have now been paying it off every month for the last 10 years. What I don't know is how much is still left to pay, does the attachment finish automatically and how do I find out. As it's over 6 years ago trustonline.org.uk don't have the information. I don't want to contact the solicitor as I think they behaved very shabbily when I was vulnerable and not in a state of mind to deal with it.
Does anyone on this site know how I find out?

Hi,
I would say only the creditor you are repaying will have that information.
You can send a letter asking for a full statement of all the payments you have made.
You can also do a rough calculation yourself, what ever your payment is times the months you have been paying, then compare that figure to the original judgement.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
