Confessions of a house hoarder

  • Thanks, TallGirl :) Luckily I don't have a problem with slots - I've only spun more than I should on an offer once since I started and that was because I miscalculated the wagering requirement, not because I was thinking, 'Just one more...'! Had a win of £126 this morning, which I was thinking was 20 metres of new fence paid for, until Mr Minx called me from town to say that the truck's starter motor had died and could I drive his car in and pick him up from Tesco's car park? The garage didn't have anything big enough to tow the truck, but we've left the key with them and they'll pick it up on Monday.

I think we may have to divert some of the house money into replacing the truck, to be honest :( It's 13 years old with nearly 130,000 on it and the garage has warned us it'll almost definitely fail its MOT in 10 months and won't be economic to repair (they're not a dealership, so no vested interest in selling us something). Now Mr Minx isn't doing deer management any more, we don't need something with 4WD, so were thinking about getting a van - seems to tick the boxes for (1) can tow a stock box filled with hay or sheep, (2) can get plasterboard sheets in the back, (3) in an emergency, can throw a load of straw in the back and take a sheep to the vet in it. Since we're going to keep doing houses, it makes sense to be able to pick up our own materials rather than having to wait for delivery lorries to come west, which might only be once a fortnight.

    • Take dogs to beach

I really want to take ours. The older one won't like the ocean (he distrusts anything deeper than an inch), but I'm really curious about what they greyhound would think.

I'm lucky; I have direct access onto the beach from my fields, so we go down most days :) Bet your greyhound would love the space - my cocker spaniel takes off like a rocket after ringed plovers.

    • Phone notes and [STRIKE]accounts[/STRIKE] for Mr RPC - phone notes can wait until tomorrow afternoon
    • [STRIKE]Finish tidying up herb bed[/STRIKE] - I hate mint...I planted it in a pot, as advised, and the damn thing broke out a couple of years ago and has been rampaging ever since. Got three buckets of roots out.
    • Yoga - think there's a short video called Yoga Before Bedtime or something similar, so will do that one last thing
    • [STRIKE]Take dogs to beach[/STRIKE] - in the pouring rain, we all came back drenched!!

Thanks, I'll have a look :) I'm working my way through all the Yoga With Adriene ones on YouTube, having started with her 31-day Revolution series in January.

  • It won't be ready until the morning - I need to pour the lemon juice and sugar over it while it's warm and then leave it to cool so the sugar forms a crust on the top.

I've got some homemade hobnobs left, if they'll do?
