The winner and a guest will stay for three nights, on a B&B basis, at Glenapp Castle, a five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel on the Ayrshire coast. A striking neogothic mansion built in 1870, it has 17 bedrooms and is set in 36 acres of grounds, home to many exotic plants and an Italian garden designed by Gertrude Jekyll. The surrounding countryside offers all kinds of country pursuits, including foraging, deer-stalking and fly-fishing, and guests can explore the coast by boat. A trip to the island of Ailsa Craig, in the Firth of Clyde, is included in the prize.
The prize includes one six-course dinner for two (excluding drinks) in the hotel’s award-winning restaurant. It must be taken in April, May, June or September 2017, subject to availability and excluding public holidays.
