Bailiff

Hi I hope you don't mind me messaging but I am really worried. I have today had a bailiff from the courts knock and ask for me ,my husband panicked and said I didn't live here.
Anyway she left a contact slip and says to contact them immediately if I don't live here. I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks and I can't talk on the phone but I did notice it has on the firm N61 which I looked up. I see it is an attachment of earnings I don't work neither does my husband and I haven't received or I don't remember receiving a form . I had one once before for a different debt in 2015 which I returned and didn't hear anymore as was told it wasn't valid as I wasn't working. I am disabled and just don't know what to do is there any way I can get the form and send it now or am I able just to text this bailiff, I would be really great greatful for advice as I'm at my wits end . Sorry if this isn't posted in the right area can someone please inform me where to post it .

Hi,
Your posting in a public forum, and in the correct place to, so dont worry.
What is this debt in relation to, do you know ?
If your not working, they cant have an attachment order, as you have no employer, so that will be invalid, yes.

Hi thankyou for replying. It's credit cards and clubs nothing like council tax or anything. After she called my husband hunted and found the attachment of earnings form which I obviously forgot to send back it came in October 16 so I'm assuming that's why she came round . Should I let her kniw I'm not working and will fill the form out also she came from our local courts and the firms were from Leeds which is Miles away from me do i return there or our court. Many thanks.0

I do owe an awful lot of money out got myself in a mess I did contemplate bankruptcy but I just haven't got that sort of money . My husband has taken early retirement and I'm disabled so neither of us are working.0

So we can assume you have CCJ's for these debts, how much do you owe in total ?
Bankruptcy rules have changed recently, you can save the fee beforehand now, there is also help available from charities.
Maybe do an SOA (statement of affairs) then people may be able to suggest ways to help you :

There are debts from years ago and I had a rough few years and in total the debt us about 23,000 I am so ashamed I haven't payed any of these debts fir a number of years as they all just snowballed and I got depressed etc .0

Do you think I should message the court baliff ? .0

You must be really worried, Daftun
How old are your debts, when was the last time you paid them and how old is the CCJ?
You can call the bailiff and tell her that you're a vulnerable person. This will affect how you are treated, and they should do their best to come up with a solution. I'd wait until you get more information on here first though. Do you know if the bailiff took an inventory of the things inside your house while she was there??0 -
Some of the debts are quite old some from 2010 and before I stopped paying about 2011 when my mother died and I fell into depression. The bailiff didn't come into the house she just have my husband a contact form. I have quite a few ccjs not sure how old they are tbh. I think some were on rained in 2014 .0

You should definitely contact the court bailiff and return the form.
As you don't work, the application for an aoe is a waste of time from the creditor's perspective. But you should return the form as it's one of the few things in the debt world that can be quite serious if you ignore it.
A full soa would be good but I would be particularly interested in seeing a list of the debts; whether they are yours, husband's or joint; whether they have a ccj on them; when you last made a payment.
Bankruptcy has changed a lot and the fees of £680 can be paid in instalments on a credit or debit card.
But we may be able to look at a DRO - they are done individually and cover up to 20k of debt. But some debts do not count towards the total and statute barred debts can be excluded if there is evidence of that. The fee for a DRO is £900 -
