Well that may well be a separate cause for complaint (professional negligence) depending who told you that - but that's for another time.


As for the CAB, the same advisor in a city can't see you, but I've never heard them insist that they can't see you because someone else within the org has seen the other side.


That would be true, however of a firm of solicitors as it would be a potential conflict of interest.


But the CAB is a huge national organisation made up of lots of branches, some paid staff and some volunteers. Unless you just happen to live in a small locale with only 1 debt recovery or employment law advisor, I cannot see why they'd send you 30 miles away.
