Will HMRC still calculate my tax for me if I go digital?

Hi there,
Just looking for a bit of reassurance. I've always filled in my self-assessment tax returns on paper forms before the autumn deadline, so that HMRC calculate the tax owed or tax to be refunded. Will this still happen if I get a Personal Tax Account and submit online?
Thanks for your time.

You do know that you if you file online after October you don't actually have to work out your tax calculation yourself, the HMRC software does that for you and tells you what the liability is before you submit the form electronically to HMRC0

No, I didn't know that, thanks! Presumably it will also calculate my tax if I choose to submit online BEFORE October?0

Yes, it'll do it for you on April 6th if you are ready that early (and online SA for the new tax year is open then, it used to take a week or two to become available but I think it opens much sooner now).0 -
Don't forget that you may need to file quarterly online with HMRC from as early as next year if you meet the criteria for MTD.0

Also, you get the calculation instantly online (compared to waiting for it, when filing on paper). In fact, you can see the calculation before submitting the tax return, which allows any errors in data entry (for example) to be corrected.
The full tax return can be downloaded to your computer as a PDF file (which looks exactly like the paper version of the form), so you can always keep a copy for your records.0
