I moved for my job, as did many of my colleagues - and no relocation package. Mostly we found a short term place to rent and then a longer term home.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Glasgow looks quite good even though it is quite "remote" from the rest of the UK but I like the way it is the only town outside london with a proper subway

I would look to live somewhere near a station if possible, but I expect it would be like london where being near a tube station commands a big premium.

Remote from the rest of the UK ? It is actually still part of the UK, in case you didn't realise ? Typical London mentality LOL - anything North of Watford Gap is a foreign country ( sorry , no offence intended, this is a joke ). But Glasgow is a great city - I don't live there, but worked there for many years. And when I did work there, it's the only time I've ever used the train for daily commuting. Great transport infrastructure, great pubs, great nightlife - yeah, and of course the archetypal drunks hurling up their kebabs after a night out. But that's true of any large conurbation with a good selection of hostelries :-)
