Lease car
We have a car leased via Renault, we got the car back in 2013 and after 2 months had our private plate put on the vehicle, we informed Renault, insurance etc etc the car has been serviced a few times and even had a new gearbox with Renault as was all under warranty.
Anyway last month we got a letter saying they are coming to take the car as its not insured.... Shocked I phoned them, only to find out they still had the old number plate from 4 years ago on their system. I got told to send the V5, most and insurance copies which I did but now they want to see pay slips, accounts, bank statements and fill in an expenditure form (even wants know how much cat food I buy) they have said if I don't do it they are coming to get the car (payments are up to date) I didn't even have to do this to get the car! Has anyone else experienced this? I don't feel that I should have to go to all the hassle of this as it's there mistake

Was the number plate on your insurance docs ?0 -
Do you have legal cover through your car insurance ? If so get them involved0
-
Yes insurance docs got changed straight away to new plate
I will check if I have legal cover on it0 -
Initiate a formal complaint immediately
WRITE (yes paper, envelope not email, phone call etc) - send it to them marked clearly "Complaint" and obtain free proof of posting from the PO
Demand they stop harassing you and threatening to take the car
Provide proof that you changed your details and that your insurance is valid on the correct plate (include copies, not originals) as well as any DVLA records showing it was changed (such as a VED reminder on the new plate)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
