long term sick pay rules please!!

my friend has been off work for 7 weeks due to his bad back. his work have wrote to him today stating they are to stop full pay so he will only get stat sick pay. what are the rules on sick pay and stuff please???:o

It all depends on his contract. Some employers only give full pay for 10 days. Others give it for 12 months. Whilst he is still in employment he is entitled to SSP.

Providing he qualifies for statutory sick pay (must earn at least £87 a week) the rules are, nothing for the first three days, and then £72.55 a week SSP for up to 28 weeks.
Company sick pay is up to the company, and the rules for that will be in his contract.Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0
