It would have taken you less than the time it took to type the above to find the answer from the link in the first post. Theres a full explanation of what Minimum Income Standards are and how they are arrived at.
You misunderstand. The definitions used are what PEOPLE THINK are the minimum INCOME standards. I am sure that you can ask focus groups that question and they will say £20 for clothes or whatever, but what does that really mean? I am asking what people think they are entitled to as a minimum? For example I might say £30 a week for petrol, you might say nobody needs a car. You might say £10 a week for bus fares, but I might say why not cycle?
The report is all about figures that people thought nearly a decade ago not what they were based on in material sense.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
