Brittania - anyone used them?

I have found this Brittania mortgage 2yr discounted base tracker ofr a remortgage - no fees AT ALL - no conveyance fees nothing! No early repayment fee! What is the catch - is there one and does anyone have any experience with Brittania - I've been told they can be incompetent. Help/advice would be much appreciated!

I have had my mortgage with Britannia for 20 years and I have just switched to the 4.75% 2 year discounted mortgage. There was no problem in changing from my previous flexible mortgage. I just rang them, asked to change it over. they sent me the agreement, i signed it and sent it back and voila! I saved myself a lot of cash! Doesn't appear to be a catch.

You won't get many advisers recommending them, as they don't deal/pay them for their "brittania branded products" - only their other brands .

I have no real personal experience of their processing service standards these days ( found them a patchy in the old days when did accept introduced business) -

can't say they have been helpful when I have tried to get more info- but that might be because they did not want to deal with me ( silly as I was not expecting a fee - just wanted more info for a client).

That does not mean that they aren't worth looking at - epsecially if the deal is right -

    no fees AT ALL

Note that you do have to pay for "disbursements" with this mortgage.
I called them and they said it would be £80-£100.

I think this means they do the legal work for free but you have to pay for any actual fees for searches etc.

    Definitely a good deal though.

not if you already have a different mortgage with them, as I had.

I thought the Britannia remortgage offer was "too good to be true"...but after extensive questioning of the consultant at the end of the phone and scruitinising the offer they sent me, I am switching to them...so far everything has been smooth, although they say there will be a delay with processing as they are behind with their work. The only cost to me is the disbursements (maximum £100) and my existing lenders deeds "penalty".

    Thanks for the correction.
Yes, the disbursements would only apply if you are moving to Britannia from another lender.

I had a five year fixed deal with them but ended this last summer.I do remember every year they sent me a bonus re the share scheme they run.I
actually had hoped they would go to the stock market and we could have got a tidy payout but the member's vote still allowed them to continue as a building society.I opted to join Alliance &Leicester 2yr disc variable will no tie in and no fees.Even the survey was refunded. :D

We're really happy with Britannia. Have had mortgage with them for 4 years and are about to fix again for the next 5.
