Getting married abroad - advise needed about the euro

Hi
we live in the UK but have booked our wedding in Ireland, we put down a deposit of 1000 euro and when we checked the bank we paid with santander have charged a £25 fee and then other charges. We are looking for advise on the best way to pay for the wedding in euro as going forward we need to pay the rest of the wedding, photographer, cake ... and it will not work out as cheap as we thought if we keep getting these charges.
is there a best bank or way around this ? im new to the forum so looking for some advise
many thanks!

Check out the travel abroad board, there's a card from Halifax that does free currency exchange0
-
Look at Revolut - app-based but offers remarkably good exchange rates0
