Samsonite...I was way off!!
Haha, in all honesty, they can be as anal as they like as to me, this seems like a positive sign as they're looking into it!
My broker has said that this is the only query they have come back with so surely this is a good thing?
Just a bit gutted as I'll bet we'll be put back to the bottom of the pile, but less to assess I'm guessing.0 -
Youll be fine. If it comes back as a decline now I would be pretty surprised.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Hi All,
Random Question.....When you have submitted a mortgage application do you usually hear back quick if its being declined? or it usually a similar length of time to hear back regardless of whether its been approved or declined?0 -
Valuation fee is in most terms and conditions and if the bank declined you a mortgage then they normally pay it back, don't know why Halifax are not have you checked the T&C's
Most T&C's are if you are offered a mortgage and you then decide that you don't want to go ahead then the valuation fee is normally non-refundable
My husband and I were previously declined a mortgage from Halifax and they refunded us the valuation fee. I would chase them up for this.

After a few phone calls to and fro, they refunded it

When we were declined for our first one with Halifax, we found out in 2 days.
This time, it was submitted on Monday and I've just heard today that they require more info so I guess if it's declined, you hear back sooner.0 -

*UPDATE*
I have no words...we've been declined again
We are now totally stuck...our house sale is moving on and we have nowhere to go.
Devastated doesn't even come close.0 -
Why?
What has your broker said?

Apparently they sent the email to her just before 5 then when she's tried to call them back, they've closed so I'm not even clear on the reason for decline. I just can't believe it! She's going to call them first thing so I'm due to speak to her mid morning tomorrow.
Her other suggestion was to try someone like Kensington and pay a 15% deposit and a higher rate but I'm just so unsure.
I knew it would be more difficult than the norm but I'm just so surprised I'm being penalised so massively for such a small amount of very old debt!0
