Realistic hourly rate for self employed worker

I'd suggest somewhere in the region of £20-£25 per hour for someone senior/experienced doing administration work would be realistic.
You don't want to be heading any lower - the most basic data entry work is charged at £10-£15 per hour on a self employed basis and your wife sounds a lot better than that!
In fact, if she's running the office, doing management style work too, then she should be looking at more, maybe the £25-£30 per hour region.
All depends on the type of work she's expected to do, i.e. level of work, degree of responsibility, etc.
Thank you so much - this is exactly the sort of information i was hoping for.
They have offered her £13 which i believe to be far too low for what she is bringing to their business.
I felt £15 was the absolute minimum she should accept and closer to £20 more realistic.
Even at £15 that's only £130 for the day which isn't a huge amount for a self employed person.0 -

What is she bringing to their business? They want an admin/ sales person, not a manager.
The work they need doing is not specialised, it's something most people could do. If she wants more money she needs to demonstrate what more she can bring to the organisation, and that they actually need those additional skills.0 -
Another point is that she is used to being paid holiday pay. This would seem like a possible bargaining chip here?Advent Challenge: Money made: £0. Days to Christmas: 59.0

Depends on your definition of manager - admittedly not staff management but they do need help with the day to day organisation and management of their businesses.
If data input can pay £10-£15 then i think it's reasonable to say £13 is possibly a bit on the low side here.0 -

Absolutely - 6 weeks paid holiday p/a
Which all needs factoring in although you can argue you are not comparing like for like as the role different to her previous role.0 -

Data input is generally minimum wage. Even adding on (28 days) holiday pay etc I doubt you'd get beyond £10 an hour. Why would an employer pay more when they don't need to?
An administrator will manage the day to day organisation of a small company, that's what an administrator does.
How much do the other staff earn? What can your wife bring to the organisation that they do not (and that is actually needed)?
Is she being paid £13 at the moment?0 -
Is it a ltd company?
Check the accounts online.
Could this office admin start including HR, accounts credit controller type duties etc.
If going self employed act like a contractor not an employee.0
