Loving Hands

This isn't quite an OS question(should theoretically be on the Charities board) but I thought I might get a better response on here.
I love doing crochet, it is quite good exercise for my mildly arthritic hands, and is easy to do when watching some TV in the evenings. however, I have already made anything wanted by anyone I know.....so I have looked to see if anyone can make use of my skills. There is a charity called Loving Hands that has a group near me and seems to fit the bill....does anyone have any experience of it?
thanks!

I have been a member of Loving Hands for many years and run a group in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. I am a very active member and one of my "jobs" is to collect the many crafted items (mostly knitted and crocheted) and send them to the lovely group of charities supported by Loving Hands. I also collect and redistribute wool and material to members, so that those who wish to knit/sew but prefer to use donated materials, can do so at minimal cost.

Thank you so much Helen, I have actually seen your 'handle' on the site!
I shall contact my local group and see what would be most helpful for me to do.
I shall not do a great deal, as it will only be in odd moments. I have more than enough sewing projects to be getting on with during the day - but I find I can't hand sew much by artificial light, and crocheting fits the bill so well.0 -
This is a lovely idea, esp as there is no shortage of prem babies that could benefit.
I wish I could knit well, I lack both the skill and the patience.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

What a lovely thing to do, I wish I had the skills
I saw this charity 'knitted knockers' on TV before Christmas knitting or crocheted prosthetic boobs.

Like V4mplse said, I am rubbish at knitting or crochet, but I cash donated to them as my 'bit' for charity at Christmas.Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I saw this article too, about crochet octopuses for premature babies - there is a link to a pattern in there.

I am sending it to all my craft-minded friends!
Edit: I can read very well, but apparently my fingers cannot follow instructions. I cannot knit/crochet without risk of injury to bystanders. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Good that the word is spreading! I have heard back from my local group, lots of things for me to be getting on with, so I am very pleased.
And I can follow instructions for knitting easily, I just end up with a rather uneven result!
Anyway, easy to crochet hats, scarves and blankets - all wanted.0
