Thank you.
I have been looking wider and have so far stopped myself from buying beeswax. I'll try to use up the wax I have then look into using something else... not keen on paraffin and would prefer to try soy.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Week 11: Day 2
Right. I'm back, and (almost) over my spending induced sulking. I am simultaneously disappointed at how easily I was thrown off course and pleased with the couple of new things I bought and how they will up my game at work.
I am definitely going to set aside a sensible portion of turnover to purchase work clothes, as it simply isn't sustainable to buy nothing. My profit over the last couple of months has averaged something like £900 per month (most of which has been diverted into saving for future months' expenses/salary), of which about 700 has come from the fashion-related stuff, so I need to treat it with the importance it deserves.
To do today:
1. 10,000 steps - I have been achieving this most days and I definitely feel better for it. Already up to 4,500
2. post office to return last of the unwanted online shopping :embarasse
3. finish an extraordinarily dull small piece of work which I have already been paid for
4. defrost leftover roast for dinner tonight.
5. clear the ironing before it turns into a mountain.
6. get laundry out on the line
7. plan outfits for the next couple of weeks to try to get maximum use from the clothes I have - I have several working days coming up so I need to make sure my clothes are clean at the right time!
To do this week:
1. help DC1 finish an optional piece of homework he's been banging on about for a week or more. How did I produce a child who volunteers for optional homework?!
2. make a batch of humous for snacks using the chickpeas I cooked and froze a few weeks back.
3. lose 1kg (am aiming to lose 1kg a week for a couple of weeks, then down to 0.5kg a week until I am back to my 'fighting' weight - i.e. the one where all my clothes fit!)
4. plan next month's budgets once DH gets paid - he will get a small pay rise backdated for a month or two, so we may be able to make a little extra debt payment before the end of the month, but sadly I don't think we'll get the debt into the £64k bracket this months thanks to my budgeting fails using up all the surplus.Trying to figure out a whole new life. Week 11: Day 2
Had a good positive afternoon, have returned the last of the online shopping and am attempting to put this somewhat tiresome few days behind me (will be easier once the refunds appear!).
To do today:
1. 10,000 steps - I have been achieving this most days and I definitely feel better for it. Already up to 4,500. Done.
2. post office to return last of the unwanted online shopping :embarasse . Done.
3. finish an extraordinarily dull small piece of work which I have already been paid for. Almost done, but I need Pinterest to finish it, and PINTEREST IS DOWN. Argh.
4. defrost leftover roast for dinner tonight. Done.
5. clear the ironing before it turns into a mountain. Not done. Tomorrow's list! It's getting more mountainous.
6. get laundry out on the line. Done, two laundry loads.
7. plan outfits for the next couple of weeks to try to get maximum use from the clothes I have - I have several working days coming up so I need to make sure my clothes are clean at the right time! Not done, but have downloaded the stylebook app to try.

Hi TOPM
Glad you're back and feeling a little less  Another one here trying to lose excess weight. I came so close the other day to ordering more clothes (that I can't afford) until I actually dragged out my wardrobe and found lots of clothes that I haven't worn in ages due to weight loss and weight gain. My weight goes up and down like no ones business. I find it too easy to blame my Underactive Thyroid
I have recycled my wardrobe bringing the bigger sizes to the front until I lose the excess baggage. Then I will recycle my wardrobe again. Didn't buy new clothes so a bonus there for my bank balance.
Keep going you are doing so well.

Week 11: Day 3
A glorious morning here today, although it's forecast to rain later (boo).
I've got lots of bits and bobs to do today, hoping to clear them early on so I can get my teeth into some bigger chores later. We'll see.
DH needs to take the car in for a new tyre and check over for something today or tomorrow, fingers crossed it's not expensive. I only have £75 in our car 'envelope' at the moment.
To do today:
1. 10,000 steps.
2. social media while working.
3. post office for work posting.
4. make stir fry for dinner using ancient frozen prawns.
5. make kitchari (rice and mung bean dish) to freeze for lunches for the coming week or two.
6. clear the ironing. Already done!
7. plan outfits for the next couple of weeks to try to get maximum use from the clothes I have - I have several working days coming up so I need to make sure my clothes are clean at the right time!

3. lose 1kg (am aiming to lose 1kg a week for a couple of weeks, then down to 0.5kg a week until I am back to my 'fighting' weight - i.e. the one where all my clothes fit!). I was 0.3kg lighter this morning than yesterday. Hopefully it will keep going in the right direction.

TOPM, you're doing really well on the debt front, considering you only started a couple of months ago. £1,900 is still £1,900. There wouldn't be many of us who have managed that in just two months. You'll be into the £64k's soon enough.
And you manage to pack a lot in. I know how to make hommous. Let's see....last time I made it from scratch, as in soaking the chickpeas overnight, peeling all the skins off, cooking the chickpeas, and turning them into hommous? Ah, that would be 1994.
I'm mystified how you could possibly be overweight. Where do you find the time to sit down, chill out and eat in your busy schedule? I've been on a high potassium regime for about 6 months. Fish, meat, veggies and fruit, unsweetened yoghurt and forget the rest. Oh, and no wheat. So rice instead. The weight has literally melted away. I feel like Macarthur Park, melting in the rain, lol.
I just didn't realise how much sweet stuff, like cakes and chocolate, I was stuffing away until I wasn't. Calories in 100gm of dairy milk chocolate 530, vs calories in 100gm of raspberries 32. Price? About the same.0 -

Keeping my schedule slightly decluttered is actually part of the journey for me I think - I am much more likely to spend on convenience stuff (quicker meals, clothes to cheer me up, things I haven't brought with me when out and about) when I'm busy than when my life feels a little more under control. I'm never going to be a sloooowwww day sort of person, but even I have my limits, and surpassing them doesn't do me or the budget any favours at all.Trying to figure out a whole new life. Well the rain appeared bang on schedule, and for once I'd actually got my laundry in before it hit! Smug face emoji.
Had a lovely day with DC3 today doing not a lot, bumped into a friend while we were out for a walk and went for a cup of tea at her house, which was unexpected, nice and free. Have been working this evening but even that isn't too hectic today, since getting my monumentally dull piece of work out of the way yesterday.
Budgets not looking too dire, apart from boring wait for refunds. I think we'll end up about £40 over on food for the month and probably another £40 over on the family kitty, neither of which are amazing, but I have at least covered all the other overspends by juggling money around. Will balance with DH's extra pay on Thursday before working on next month's budgets.
To do today:
1. 10,000 steps. Done.
2. social media while working. Not done in any way. Haven't worked much either, mind.
3. post office for work posting. Done.
4. make stir fry for dinner using ancient frozen prawns. Done.
5. make kitchari (rice and mung bean dish) to freeze for lunches for the coming week or two. Not done. Completely failed to put it onto my (paper) list so forgot about it entirely.
6. clear the ironing. Already done!
7. plan outfits for the next couple of weeks to try to get maximum use from the clothes I have - I have several working days coming up so I need to make sure my clothes are clean at the right time! Not done yet, trying to get everything laundered and away so I can see my pitiful wardrobe in all its glory.
