Long time lurker, make that 4, hope everything went well xx
  • Thank you so much for checking in everyone, I really really appreciate it! Ended up having to wait ages for an ultrasound this afternoon, but I'm absolutely thrilled to say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with me (beyond some inflamed scar tissue from repeated bouts of mastitis while breastfeeding, but compared to breast cancer, I'm pretty happy about that!). Such a relief to get the all clear, and today has really cemented for me that we need to get, and stay, on top of our finances once and for all - the financial implications of having something wrong with me were a huge weight on my mind through this whole process.

Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.

What a relief for you TOP. Certainly it shows you were right to start getting rid of the debt as health issues on top of worrying about finances would be awful. Hope you can relax a bit now you have the all clear.

  • While we're on the subject of positivity, today I got another client booking confirmed, so I have been able to start adding to June's business expenses/minimum salary pot - only £25 out of £295 so far, but it's a start. This means I have TWO FULL MONTHS minimum income and business expenses covered, and am working my way towards a third. I'm so pleased about this, and once I've got up to three months I'll start dividing the money a bit more evenly between saving for future expenses and overpaying on debt. Hopefully my invoicing for the end of this month will get me pretty much all of June's income (so I will still be two full months ahead as we enter April and I withdraw my month's 'salary').

Definitely! So many diaries on here show how devastating an unexpected illness can be on finances, and we have absolutely no safety net in place at the moment.

I have read your diary a couple of times and must admit that you have inspired me to get on track with my own budget. I am glad to read that everything went well at your appointment and for the great news with you getting ever closer to that 3 month income mark! I hope you don't mind but I have taken on board your split for extra income and have decided to do something similar for my own budget as I think its a wonderful idea.
