I bought an item from eBay recently which clearly stated that delivery to UK was £9.99. There was no mention that this was mainland only or that it would cost more for delivery to Northern Ireland.
I then received an email about half an hour after my 'Buy It Now' purchase asking that I pay an extra £15 for delivery to Northern Ireland. The eBayer also stated that if I didn't pay within an hour then my purchase would be canceled and my payment refunded. I didn't even get checking my email until after this time period! The eBayer did indeed cancel my purchase, refunded my payment and even blocked me from making any further purchases from him! Surely this sort of behaviour isn't allowed on eBay.
Does any body know can I do anything about this?

It doesnt cost any more to post to NI than it does to mainland UK. Unless you ordered something like a fridge or washing machine. I would email the seller and explain this. I would also contact ebay, it doesnt sound very fair what the seller has done.

Forgot to say, its against ebay policy to ask for more postage after auction has ended. As it state postage to UK is £9.99 and NI is part of UK then he is breaking the ebay rules. he may have gotten confused with ROI, you would be surprised at how confusing our political situation is to those on the mainland. :rotfl:Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Does the seller use a courier instead of Royal Mail Special delivery I wonder? I hate this, but at least most sellers seem to mention this in their listings. If the Seller doesn't mention it in his listing then report him to Ebay.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

I explained to him that Northern Ireland was part of the UK and that Royal Mail is the same price (the item was only about 3kg). The seller said that he doesn't use Royal Mail and that it costs him £26 to deliver to here. He wasn't interested in compromising at all and told me to go elsewhere basically!
How do I go about reporting him to eBay?0 -
I suggest you go to this page http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-shipping.html and click on the report to Ebay icon at the bottom. You can then fill the online form in.
You should also raise this question on the Ebay section of the Forum as there are some very knowledgeable people on there who can answer the question better than I can.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
I have learn from previous mistakes on Ebay and never ever tell the seller I'm in NI. I have ammended my ebay address to show the county and postcode and thats it. So far thankfully I have had no problems.Norn Iron Club Member No 1270

I have had this problem before with a seller trying to charge more for postage then changing his mind and asking for VAT ?!? stick to your guns, its their mistake, what postage is listed on an item is what you pay, they cannot charge you anymore.
In the end they said that the item was now broken and so wasnt for sale any more. They still got a neg0 -
I have previously had issue and the seller was more than unpleasant about it. Ebay did nothing when I complained. The seller did not change his listings so I repeatedly reported his listing and he eventually was forced to correct the situation.2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
I also had this problem before, I tried to explain that NI was part of the UK etc but the seller was having none of it and I reluctantly had to pay an extra £15 for delivery.
As it turned out, he sent the wrong item (left handed golf club instead of right handed) and had to send a courier with another one. The courier said he had no instructions to collect the original item, 6 months later they still hadn't contacted us so we re-sold it on ebay for the same money!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
This is something thats really !!!!ing me off, it means its cheaper now just to go into a local shop to buy something as the postage costs are so expensive, this is just a fairly recent thing to, I've been on ebay 5 years or so and just in the last year almost every retailer on ebay has double postage costs for NI,
Prime example, I bought a 32" LCD TV, postage was £29.99 to the mainland, it said please contact for price to NI and Scotland, so I did but got no responce so bid and won anyway, I asked for the price for postage, to my shock not £29.99 nor even £59.99 but £79.00 for postage, I kid you not:mad: Needless to say I did not pay and got a none paying bidder filed against me.
And whats more I bought an item in the summer, postage was £15 to mainland and £25 for NI, I paid the £25 only to find it arrived second class Royal mail with postage price of £7.99 on it:mad:
