Mortgage advice

Hi,
I am looking to get a mortgage and unsure of what help to buy available due to my situation.

About 20 years ago i defaulted on a mortgage and house was repossed and have been renting ever since so now not a first time buyer.

Would I be classed as moving house and what if any help to buy options could be available to me? Not looking for a massive mortgage (around 100,000)

I also live in Scotland

Probably a 5% mortgage but maybe 10%

Not many new builds in my area at the moment so looking for older property

Thanks

  • I'm no expert but I think if this happened 20 years ago then it should be clear from your record by now. Also I think you would be classed as a first time buyer (I once read the definition of a FTB as somebody who has not held a mortgage for at least 3 years).
  • Thanks
Pretty sure I can get a mortgage as kept up with any debts I have had and now have excellent credit rating. Interesting about the First time buyer, if so could open more possibility's so worth me looking deeper.
