what can i do regarding credit file?

Its a mess.. the one i have here from 2 years ago.. although a few debts should of come of now the big ones.. i am going to be obtaining an updated version over the next couple of days..

questions are:

will debts that i am still paying now that i had like 5+ years ago still be showing?

how do i go about obtaining credit? my score is absolouty poor all i want is a debit card and to try and get a morgtage

I presume that some of these debts resulted in a default being registered on your credit file?
If so that will stay on your file for six years from the date of the default.

While those are there you will probably have difficultly obtaining a normal 'current account'. But there are alternatives.

These accounts are normally available to people with adverse credit histories (some are even OK if you are bankrupt!), and a few offer a basic debit card.
