How to force IT recruitment agencies to delete my all private data and CV?

Hi there!
Has anyone have got any idea how to force recruitment agencies to delete my CV and all my private details from them systems and databases? I'm persecution by IT recruitment agencies. Practically every day I'm getting between 1 to 3 emails with 'job offers' etc. I even have never used any recruitment agencies. I've never collaborated with them. Now, when I spoken with one potential Employer, she said to me, that she's got my CV from several different recruitment agencies. !!!!!!? OK, I understand That nowadays we have a lots of websites like E.G. linkedin, indeed etc. It's easy to make mistake and display my private information or CV event to all recruitment agencies and then they can manipulate quiet of your data. My question is how to force them to remove all my CV?
Regards,
Poniato

    The only way to do it is to contact any that get in touch with you and request them to remove your details from their database. I still get daily random calls and emails from various agencies with job opportunities despite having now deleted my CV and/or account from the main websites (Ironically I probably receive more now I've found employment!)

    A bit too late for you now but in future I have a copy of my CV for online upload only with a secondary email address and telephone number on so I can just ditch them when I've found something ;) (Though be careful if you have any public information on social media as they may latch on to that!)

    Per the data protection guidance: "If a data controller holds personal details about you for direct marketing purposes, you can ask them to remove your details. You can do this by writing to the organisation or person holding these details. They must let you know within 40 days if they have dealt with your request."

    I sympathise. Agents are duplicitous and lazy, it seems. The last job I got through an IT agency was 15 years ago, and I STILL get emails about jobs. I used to get calls but they've just got lazier. An agent leaves an agency and takes a copy of your CV which he sells to his new agency etc, people have databases of what I can only imagine to be "Chinese Whispers" versions of my decades old data which they search for keywords and spam with jobs.

    I tried responding to reach saying I wasn't looking etc. It's like Whac-a-Mole. I've given up, and just use the spam filtering in Gmail to protect me from most now

    Thank you guys for your all posts.
    @Johntea Duplication of CV is a good idea. If we talk about social media. I don't have any my photos on fb, linkedin etc. It's really difficult find me. Even if you find me there will be not much information. Currently I've got only profile on linkedin. That's all, nothing else.
    @VinnyC That's nice paragraph.
    @paddyrg I also send emails to agencies with message like: "Please, remove my CV, all private data from all of your systems and database. etc etc". As you said there are only more and more emails etc. But there have to be a way to stop it. To stop them to sending me emails.
  • Hi
    I suggest you go on the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website. They deal with all aspects of Data Protection Law. Their website is full of information regarding how to deal with problems regarding your personal data. They also have an online chat facility and will hopefully give you answers to your queries. I have communicated with them several times and they have always helped me with data issues.
    Hope this helps
