Too Soon?

My husband was declined a mortgage in principle by Skiptons in January. It later turned out that our broker (who was useless) hadn't really looked into things before telling us to 'give them a bash'. My husband had 2 late payments at the time, 5 months old and supposedly 'as problematic as a goldfish.' Skiptons felt otherwise.

The payments are now over 6 months old (albeit by a few days) but would it be worthwhile trying with them again? The only reason we like the idea of them, is they appear to be the only lender who doesn't require a further 5% deposit when using the LIFT scheme and sorting out my finances (also considering an adverse mortgage to get a joint application and raise our affordability) literally ate up the 5% we previously had.
