Self managed has a lot of benefits, you don't have to dance to anyone's tune but your own.
I would do that, cancel your plan with SC, tell them whatever you like, best done in writing though.
Then wait until the default notices start dropping on the doormat, let them default, then see who contacts you next, and take it from there.

OK thanks I think Ill get on it next week now massively tired after being up in the night dealing with my dad fitting!!
one thing after another.
but just quick question , being a bit thick what does a default letter look like ? will it say default? or will it be baliffs letter?
and will people turn up at the door like on that programme 'can't pay take it away? ' not that Ive actually got very much to take apart from some flat pack furniture and a broken tablet! lol

You are getting very confused here.
Allow me to explain, the guys you see on the telly are High Court Enforcement officers, they do not deal with consumer credit act debts full stop.
A default letter will say Dear mr so an so, you owe bank of dad £2500 and you have until sunset next friday to pay it.
Or something along those lines, in a bit more formal writing.
Basically they are legally obliged to send you this letter, to formally ask you to either, settle the debt before the due date in the letter, or the account will be defaulted, effectively, it will be closed.
This is what you want to happen, so for now, do nothing, when the account defaults, it will then be sold, or passed to a debt collector, they will tell you if its been sold, or if its just been managed by them, its at that point you can come to some kind of arrangement with them.
Consumer credit act debts are always dealt with by the county court, if you ignore letters that say they will take you to court, or you receive a county court claim form and ignore it, you will get a CCJ by default, if you continue to ignore, its at that point a county court bailiff may come knocking on your door, but they are just one of many options available, and it depends on a lot of factors if or when they are used.
You are a million miles away from that scenario at present, so dont even start thinking along those lines, a default letter is just something your bank has to send you in certain circumstances, a bailiff knocking on your door is only possible after a legal process has been undertaken.

OKthought it was perhaps my tired mind going into worry overdrive!
I guess this letter from TSB is virtually there then as they are asking for the full amount in 14days.
also if I can ask one more quick question would you advise that I send the letter to TSB saying I cant pay and that Im on DMP and that they haven't responded to my previous correspondence or should I just not reply now *add any other suggestion* ?
thanks you time is appreciated.0
