Do you still have outstanding debt with them Abby? I'm hoping now its paid off then they'll remove the marker.0 -
Hi everyone
I finally received a phone call from the HBOS Complaints Dept last night.
The woman i spoke to informed me that the previous woman was correct and that the black mark would stay on their internal system indefinitely.
She advised me that this may lead to me finding it hard to get credit (in the form of bank account, loan, mortgage or credit card).
The woman suggested if i was going to apply to go into the branch as the online system would automatically decline the application but couldn't guarantee that i'd be accepted in the branch either.
The woman was helpful but advised herself there was nothing more they can do about it as this is their protocol.
How can a company do this?! Surely once a debts been paid and its off my credit file then a company should take that into account. I plan on taking this as far as i can as i don't feel its right.

Hendy, I think you are missing the most important point here.
It's their money and they can lend to who ever they want to, they have every right to reject you in the future. You broke the agreement with them, they settled for a lower amount and lost money. Why would they ever want to lend to you again, that would be silly.
Step down off the horse, there are plenty of other banking groups out there, just stay away from HBOS/Lloyds group.0 -
