I have had an appointment with the hygienist today and it was suggested I get a electric tooth brush. It was suggest oral B and some bigger inter-dental brushes.
The hygienist said I needed the yellow brushes. I looked on line when I got home and it seems they are 0.7mm I am using 0.4mm at the moment.
So what tooth brush should I get. Money is limited so what is a good lower end brush I should get?
Thanks in advance

I think it depends what head you prefer. I like the Oral B ones because they have round heads. I once tried the Phillips Sonicare and just found it more awkward to get in all the nooks and crannies in my mouth. I don't think you need to pay a lot. I think I got a £40 one for £20 when Boots had them half price. They are always on sale somewhere so I would shop around. They seem to be half price on Superdrug's site at the moment.0

I don't think the brush you pick will matter too much in terms of which thickness the interdental brushes that you need are. I have also heard it said on here by one of the dental folk who kindly answer all out questions, that the electric brush vibration frequencies don't really matter too much once it gets beyond a certain level and though there is a difference between the brushes which require AA batteries and those that are chargeable by plug, that all the chargeable brushes will be enough to do what you need which is clear from a tooth brush which is to clean your teeth and get rid of debris. Just make sure you use it for long enough each time.
The only advice (if it is allowed!) I have on electric tooth brushes is to make sure you can afford the new heads which generally last 3 months or so a time (so the instruction manual tells me) and if you do have a problem knowing how long to brush for, a brush with a timer in can be really helpful. Failing that, find an egg timer.
The difference in price seems less about cleanliness of teeth (not saying this isn't the case, just from what I understand it all transpires to be) but more about the whole experience being upgraded or 'better'. Things like a timer, through to reminders via apps and what not about where to concentrate the brushing on or areas you might be missing. If you see a dentist regularly I don't see any reason why they can't let you know if they are seeing areas you are neglecting as and when.
Other than that, just make sure you remember; teeth have several sides not just one and that your teeth also benefit from your tongue being cleaned as bacteria doesn't just sit between the cracks of your teeth.0 -
Type of electric brush is largerly irrelevant - I seen brushes at B&M at £2 that work fine. Usually it is not type of the brush but pressure that one applies on it and covering all gingival margins that matter. You know already size of interdental brushes you need ; again brand is not important. I have seen them in required size only in tepe range but if you find any other than that's fine. The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.0 -
I've got the Philips Sonicare EasyClean - was only about £30 I think. I'm happy with it. Previously I had an expensive Oral B one which I threw out after some years because it wasn't holding its charge. I prefer this one as it has a more traditional brush head - rectangle ish - rather than the round Oral B and because it's got a bigger surface area it's cleaning more tooth as it goes if that makes sense.0

We're a family of OralB owners. They're brill.I have a 6000 hubby a 2000 and the children a 600, in fact I have just ordered a new 600 for my son from Superdrug £49 down to £19:60 .
As for the head it depends what you prefer you can get typical brush shaped but I prefer the compact round ones they get everywhere easier. You don't have to get the brand replacement I get copy ones for a fraction of the price.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
I have had radiotherapy to my mouth and as such one side is very dry as the salivary glands don't work.
I attend the hygienist every 12 weeks for a descale and polish. I was using an oral b electic toothbrush and interdental brushes. I changed my toothbrush to a sonicare, deep clean. My mouth did feel better and the hygienist did say my mouth had significantly improved.
I like the head it cleans my back teeth so much better.0 -
