default on loans/credit cards

hope someone can give me some advice here please. any suggestions greatefully received.
this is a bit long, but basically this year i was having employment troubles and was out of work, so i didn;t pay my debts and have defaulted with two debtors. i have about £13k debt and have defaulted on about 2 out of 5 debts. i got a good job and was paying ok but then there was trouble at work, and i left. now, i am earning but far less and struggling to pay the money each month. so, i think its best to apply for another loan and consolidate. obvously, i;ve defaulted so i wonder if anyone could tell me if they think anyone would lend me a loan with these defaults?
I know about the CCCs routes, but i want to ay the money back in full and to try and retain some financial control. any ideas ?

I would not consolidate as cause you defaulted you may not get a good rate. You could try writing to your creditors and explaining the situation and offering token payments, its worth a try :)
  • Ok, well let's start at the beginning. Last october i was very ill and was off work from October - January. January til April I was only earning £6 per hour, and with a rented flat etc, I couldn;t afford to pay back my orginal
    contractual obligations to debtors.
    My contractual obligations are:

    MBNA VISA/MASTERCD £40.00 Monthly
    CAPQUEST DEBT RECO £200.00 Monthly
    MCS £40.00 Monthly
HJ CLEMSON CURRENT CURRENT ACCOUNT £160.00 Monthly
BLAIR, OLIV, & SCO £40.00 Monthly
    Totalling £480 per month.
Then April came and I got a new job, earnin £1500 per month - so I went back to monthly repayments. Not really on a payment plan just enough to cover original payments and to keep the debtors at bay. They are
    happy with my repayments.
So, then terrible thing happened at work, and now I am again earning £6 per hour and the figures don't add up, see below. So, I've been subbing myself with a Credit Card I have. This is ok, and I felt it was important to
keep paying (even if I am only robbing Peter to pay Paul) because it shows willing, and I am hoping to be earnin good cash soon anyway.
But my Credit card is near max now, and I've no new job as yet. I keep applying, but I am wanting to gather info just in case there is no job in the next few months, and I am in a similiar situation as before, i.e cannot
afford to make the £480 per month.
So....I take a look at my credit report, because realisitically, my plan was to apply for a new loan when the arrears were cleared and the score was up. I've made about 6 payments so far, so it should be gettin better.
    Credit score says the following:
    2 defaults
    3 up to date payments

    My questions are:
    - will anyone lend me a loan?
    - when do defaults dissapear?
    - can i do anything to improve my status and get a loan?
I really need to get the payments down, and my plan was to apply for a loan when I had made 6-8 payments however with these defaults I am not sure anyone will lend me.
    Any help appreciated.
