My own £3000 by March challenge

Hi All

I've managed to book leave from work for March and I indend to go to New Zealand for a well deserved holiday, have had a rough 3 years and last holiday I had was about 4 years ago. I'm thinking I will need around £3000 for the trip with flights and touring and a few nice trips for myself so I'm hoping that I can raise the funds rather than going into my savings.

I've got around 28 weeks to raise the money, and that means that I'll be aiming for around £108 per week. I've got somethings to ebay, use amazon and try and go to car boots - not a very morning's person so this is a killer for me! But I might have missed them now.

Currently I'm not in a job that I'm enjoying, so am looking for other work, this may mean if successful, relocating - which I don't mind. So I'm also thinking if I don't get a better job by the time I'm leave, I might just stay there a year. If I do get a better job it'll just be a holiday.

I've got a few things that I intend to put on ebay during the week - anyone know when the next cheap day is? I've not really been doing much on it recently.

So if any of you have any suggestions I'd be grateful. Not use doing an SOA as most of my salary already goes into savings (hoping to buy a house next year so this will be my last holiday for a while) so I'd rather this be done out of additional things if possible.

TIA KG

Hiya - maybe look at cashback sites like Quidco etc if you need to buy anything/renew insurances etc - if you do a search for Quidco on here you will find loads of info - some people end up earning a few hundred pounds a year from cashback sites. Just have a look at Immoral Angel's signature on the post above mine!!

  • Thanks for the info - all my insurances are due after the holiday so can't get much there and bought most of Christmas stuff already  so don't see me buying much in meantime! Will probably buy gifts when I'm away if I decide to come back... at least they won't be able to buy them here then.

Have put 9 things on ebay (low amounts) and have declined something I had put an best of offer on.

Just been told that my best friend is expecting a baby in April:j, if I do decide to stay there so she will give me a guilt trip - their first and they've been together years. Don't think that they'll be in best of situations to come over for a visit if I stay with a less than 1 year old baby and she's been on maternity! Will need to put my thinking cap on to get a really nice present for their baby as she's like a big sister to me.

Have a week off shortly so will be putting lots of books / video's / CD's and DVD's on that so I hope that someone will buy some of them!

Did request 2 application forms for better paid jobs yesterday but they didn't arrive today and one must be in by 9am Friday and it's a good 2 hours drive one way so don't think I'll be shortlisted for that one!
