Train delay- can I claim?

I am not sure I qualify as if the trains hadn't been up the spout I'd have missed the earlier train due to my Featherstone from station A.......let me try and explain
I had a journey planned.
Station A, depart 11.50. Six min journey to station B, where I had to change.
Station B departs 12.07arrives station C 12.30
To make this journey I needed to leave home at 11.30
At 11.10 I checked the Times of the trains.
Lots of the trains from Station A delayed. My trains from Station B is also showing delayed at 12.23. But the earlier train from station B instead of 11.37 was showing at 12.03
So I figured if I left sharpest and got any trains from A to B. I could get the earlier delayed train.
Got to station A And tapped in using oyster. 11.36
Caught train to station B, in plenty of time to catch the delayed 11.37.
However when it arrived at 12.03 they changed its route. So now instead of stopping at loads of stops, it was going in the opposite direction direct non stop to back to London.
So I had no choice but to wait for my original train 12.07 which did arrive at 12.23.
Now I was delayed but my tap in time at the original station was too late to catch the earlier train had it not been delayed. So my delay was mostly due to me trying to use the delays to my advantage. My actual delay had trains ran on time was 16mins.
If it makes any difference Journey A-B is southern. B - C thameslink.

Some of your times seem a bit odd, like:
"Got to station A And tapped in using oyster. 11.36
Caught train to station B, in plenty of time to catch the delayed 11.37."
You need to work out how much your journey was delayed, and claim if it was more than 15 minutes. If you had non-obvious problems with a connecting service (planned connection service had changed stops) then add that as a comment on the web form.0 -
Think I arrived at station B at 11.55
I don't believe I was actually delayed, because the time I touched in at A, was only a minute earlier than the scheduled departure from B.
If I had followed my original timings I would've tapped in at 11.50. And arrived at my destination at 12.46 sixteen minutes late. I only tapped in early to try and avoid being late.
Tbh it's all very confusing, and I think I'll just leave it this as its just a small fare anyway.
Was more curious tbh.0 -
Station A, station B, etc.
What's all the secrecy about?
And why do we need to know about your 'Featherstone'?
The real questions you need to address are:
1) what time would you have arrived at your destination had everything been running to time?
2) what time did you actually arrive at your destination?
3) is the time difference between the answers to questions 1) and 2) greater than fifteen minutes?
If the answer to 3) is 'yes', then you have a claim.0 -

It sounds like the 1137 service was actually cancelled; the physical train then being put on another route. So you could try a claim against that. And if the 1207 arrived at C more than 15 minutes late - claim for that.I need to think of something new here...0 -

The secrecy is because I STUPIDLY didn't use an anonymous name when I first started here years and years ago. Putting the station names may identify me.
I have no idea what I meant to type where the word Featherstone is, but my kindle auto corrected my typing to that word. Sorry
Yes I was 16minutes later at station C.Actually the first question is "had the train you were on been running to time". Because that's the train they will actually check against.

The 11.37 wasn't cancelled. It's one of those weird lines where they say it's going to Station C, but it's actually going further because it loops back to London.
It arrived and instead of continuing around the loop it went straight back to London, fast, non stop. Wasn't put on another route stayed on same route but went the wrong way round the loop non stop to make up time. Do you see what I mean?If you weren't "actually delayed" then what are you claiming for?
I apologize for my confusion, as I confused myself trying to get my facts straight w/o naming places because as I explained to wealdroam I didn't want to put station names for identifying reasons.
I was delayed by sixteen minutes. But I, myself made my journey longer by leaving earlier than planned to try and take advantage of the earlier late running train.
Edited to add. If you re-read the post you've quoted LadyDee, I say both I wasn't actually delayed and that I was.sixteen minutes late. Obviously too confusing for me!!!!!
So I'll claim that.

The Delay Repay threshold is 15 minutes on GTR, but I am not going to decipher the cryptic post. If you want my view on it, post your full intended itinerary vs your actual itinerary and let us know what date it was and I'll check the actual time running.
And Featherstone station is served by Northern and is in West Yorkshire!;)0 -
In that case the entire journey was made on the same train company: GTR.

Sorry Yorkie,
I don't often venture on this board so missed your response.
I've sent off a form I picked up from changing station.
Sorry for the cryptic nature of the post, but I don't want to give my full itinerary for reasons I stated previously.
Incidentally can you change your name on these forums??? :question:0
