American Company Demanding Money

Hi,
Last year I was paying for a server I was renting in the USA. The monthly payments where paid a month up-front, yet when I cancelled they wanted me to pay for another month which I hadn't used, so I refused.
I today received a letter from an american company called AmerAssist demanding the total of $110.
Where do I stand with this?

What was in the "Terms & Conditions", did it say that you had to give another months notice? If it did I would just pay it if you can afford to.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0

How did you normally pay for your server? IF you owed anything surely the company should have charged you before you cancelled. Have you got a copy of the contract you agreed too when you took started renting the server?
I had this problem a few years back with a music site I used to run. I cancelled my hosting and they demanded that I paid for the bandwidth I had used and also for one months hosting. In my case it was about £40 and I just paid up as I couldnt be bothered with the hassle.
I have no idea if they have any legal way to reclaim the money if the company is american as surely it would fall under U.S law?
Sorry I could be any more help but I think its a case of check the contractOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -

Totally agree with Davek - this is not enforceable under UK law in the SAME way as UK County Court Judgements have NO validity in America.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
