Contract entitlement?

I was looking for some advice with work. Basically I started working for a very large company in December 2015 and in my contract was offered a company car or car allowance. I had a car at the time but told them it would be going back soon as was a lease.
In February 2016 I emailed my Director and HR and asked for a car, I was told no problem however I could only have one off the reallocation list (Which someone has left behind when they leave the company) I chose one at my grade and it was being sent to me when it broke down and unavailable. There were no other cars at my grade so I had to wait then several cars came up but by the time my director had authorization from powers above, the cars had gone. Several months went by and I expressed my concern to my director as I was (from February) driving round my senior due to him losing his licence drink driving. So I was having to literally drive him from site to site and sit in the office while he conducted his work! I believe this majorly affected my progression as I couldn't then be given my own sites.
I was using my own lease car here, excess mileage, massive wear and tear and maintenance for driving him round, so I expressed the car was vital. By now a car in my division was available however being a 2litre petrol 4x4 which I just couldn't afford the petrol! They wouldn't let me have one from any other division as our division had this one on the car park!
Anyway, I still don't have one! There's excuse after excuse, not the correct car, not the correct grade, no cars available. I read in my contract that I am entitled to choose a new car from Lex autolease unless there is a car available to me. For 12 months there hasn't been. So 12 months later I still don't have a car, I told them last week that I am pregnant then today a new employee started, same level as me, and he has turned up for his first day to a company car!!!!
How can they do this to me!!! I work in near enough male office, all my bosses are males, I am the only female in my department in still a discriminative industry and just feel like its another thing they are doing to me! I already know I am paid less than the man who is my equivalent who started after me and I havnt had a pay rise in the time I have been there even though I have taken on and run my own sites!
What can I do or say?

I'm intrigued, what was the massive wear and tear he inflicted on your car?
IAmNotAWoman but I can't see grounds for your implied claim of indirect discrimination. You would need to show that you were treated worse than a man doing the same job but you give no evidence of that.
You say that you got either a car or car allowance. I assume therefore that until you get your company car that you are claiming car allowance or mileage allowance?0 -
Did you get the car allowance instead?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Well I work in construction so travelling to sites which has meant replacing so many tyres, stone chips, crap inside my car plus it's a white car so I'm always having to clean it 😩
Yes I get a car allowance which I explained doesn't even cover the monthly cost of a small car never mind the business insurance etc!
I'm not saying it's necessarily discrimination as I'm a woman but I can't see why they won't give me what I'm entitled to however a new starter can?0 -
If the contract is car or car allowance, and you are getting the agreed car allowance, I am not sure they have done anything wrong here. If you are getting neither, then that would be a different matter
However I would not have been driving my boss around because he lost his licence. That's his problem, not yours....0 -

Keep in mind that unless it is discrimination you have no employment protection as you have been there less than two years.
I suspect you would struggle to prove that sexual discrimination is the main reason for the problem you are experiencing.0 -
You've admitted in your other thread that you were now arrive late at work almost every day late because of childcare, so it might be that they are losing faith in your dedication to the job and don't want to reward you with a new car when they don't feel they will get the input back into the company. How can they do this to me!!!
Unfortunately, it's often how it works. They probably suspect you won't come back to the job after you go on maternity leave, so they have now classed you as past investment and are focusing on new staff.0 -

What happened to his/her car in this time - in similar instances I've been involved in then Managers car has been given to Junior who's now ferrying him/her around (or if a car allowance then at least this is rescinded for the period of the ban and a car provided for driver)I believe this majorly affected my progression as I couldn't then be given my own sites.
Or maybe was a way that Director could observe your behaviours/appetite - an opportunityWhat can I do or say?
Given your sense of entitlement then 'I resign' might be an ideaWell I work in construction so travelling to sites which has meant replacing so many tyres, stone chips, crap inside my car plus it's a white car so I'm always having to clean it 😩
And this will change if you have a company car :rotfl:Yes I get a car allowance which I explained doesn't even cover the monthly cost of a small car never mind the business insurance etc!
In our environment the idea is that the allowance will fund a basic car - if you want more then you add to that the amount you would pay in tax on your company car to get something better. I run one very nice 2nd hand car and a 2nd hand family runaround on my allowance + tax I'm savingI'm not saying it's necessarily discrimination as I'm a woman but I can't see why they won't give me what I'm entitled to however a new starter can?
You've got what you're entitled to - it seems however that your expectations are higher than your entitlement - maybe time to change the title of your thread
