Paying Tax on Secondary Income

I've got a full-time permanent job. I've also been offered a couple of pieces of work elsewhere, amounting to just over £5000.

I notice I need to set myself up as being self-employed with HMRC.

The site asks if I already have a Government Gateway number. I do but it's from a business I ran for a year in 2015. I have advised all parties that the business is no longer running.

Do I use this same GG number or request another one?

I thought the GG ID was for you, and you then linked your business to that? When I did my tax return the other day, there is scope to add and delete individual businesses from the return, so I would imagine that means that you would use the one you have. A call to HMRC would confirm, though, and might not take so long to get through now we're past the SA deadline.

I have a personal GG ID and one that is tied to my company. The company will get me to VAT and other company things that the personal GG won't allow. And vice versa
