recruitment change the goal post!

I applied for a job with network rail. I went to the assessment day and passed it. I then went to the interview, but failed it at that point.

I was informed by NR that my test scores would be on file for 3 years and they would be used for any future applications.

Last week I was informed that the old system was scrapped and I had to do a new online test! I did the test, but I was told I did not reach the benchmark!

Can NR do this and change the goal posts, given that they explicitly stated that my previous results would be valid for 3 years?

They can, because they have. And no, you have no comeback on this.

For whatever reason, they have changed their recruitment process. Maybe too many people were getting through assessment days and failing interviews, so they've beefed up the initial selection with this online test. Maybe a new of head of HR just preferred a different system.

You are not their employee, so you have no contract with them, and they have no responsibility towards you.
