Hi
Anyone here have experience with cruiser board/long boards/Skateboards for commuting short distances?? What sort of terrain you go on? Any guides, tips on whether it is worthwhile, your experience and how to pick your first board?
I am looking to get a board to commute into town (25 minutes walk). Mostly pavements I reckon with one or two hills.
Thanks!

My advice is don't be one of those obnoxious !!!!! who pay no attention to pedestrians on the pavement and expect them to leap out of the way.0

I laughed when my sister said she'd got a scooter to zip to work. I had a quick go on it when I visited, and I'm amazed. It's so much more efficient than the toy scooters we had as kids. One push and you can glide for ages. You can get up quite a speed too. It's completely changed my opinion on them.
The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the foot brake. I think I would find it more controllable with a bike-style brake lever on the handlebars.0 -
I was just overtaken by two people on long boards whilst walking on the way home. So there are people out there travelling by boards. I think it is a very valid mode of transport, just takes some skill and etiquette to make it an elegant way of commuting.
