Debt collection letter from Arvato about 1&1 subscription

Hi,
I received a letter today from Arvato wanting me to pay them 28 pounds something pence for a domain from 1 and 1. november 2015, i purchased a domain for about 99p, now they want 28 quid, i'm sure i cancelled it.
The thing is, i'm 16 years old. Can I get them to remove the debt and just cancel my domain like I wanted them to do in the first place ? I've had problems when i was 11 when i signed up for a "free trial". Should I contact 1&1 or Arvato and should i say im 16 (i know i shouldnt be ticking the boxes to say im 18 but how do you expect a teen to live a life without buying things online ?) or will they prosecute me or something for lying about my age ?

No they won't prosecute you. And you can buy stuff online, you just can't sign up for certain services. I'd stick to the rules mate.
Someone more knowledgeable will be along to confirm what they can't and can do. I suspect not much with you being 16Money money money.

You can't (won't is a better word) be prosecuted for debt, or for lying about your age to obtain goods or services.
Write and tell them your only 16, enclose a copy of your birth certificate (if possible) i doubt you will hear from them again.
And as said above, don't do it again, because when you get to 18 you are legally liable for things you sign up to.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You are 16 and cannot enter into a contract anyway - it isnt legally possible. They have no chance in court because that is the first thing that will be ascertained. Tell them that the domain was cancelled, you are 16 and you have no intention of paying this. Your lie about your age is legally beside the point though you are lucky in this case. Dont be so silly ever again because in two years, they could and would trash you seven ways from Sunday and you would be 25 before you could get any sort of credit again (some would say not a bad place to be anyway). Learn your lesson now. When you start getting paid for real, learn to budget, learn to put money aside and you will never be poor. Most of us wish we had that chance over again.Debt Free! Learn your lesson now, as others have said: otherwise that cavalier attitude will get you a world of stress due to bad financial management.0

Would they make his parents pay because they are responsible for OP. Or would they go down fraud route if he says only 16 but ticked to say 18 to enter a contract?Debt As Of 19/3/2021: £16,973 | Current Debt: £9,322 | 54.9% Repaid0 -
