you can definitely earn above 36K, might take some time if you change career.....
I suggested public services jobs mainly because several of them require customer services skills. but there are private companies you could apply to too. if there is a pay cut even with a baby on the way, OP's mental health is more important and it seems he needs a change.
if these messages keep coming from OP, maybe he is not getting the response he needs on these forums. I believe he needs a change and sticking in a job just for the money is clearly doing him no good. so what choice does he have other than to change career? also talk to your girlfriend as suicidal thoughts are a serious issue and then hopefully you can get some support from her.
