Deodorant?

This might sound like a stupid question...
But how can you tell if a roll on deodorant has been used before?
I grabbed the last two on the shelf and when I got home I took one of the lids off and although the ball was dry, it had dry flakes of deodorant fluid around the bit where the lid screws on, I opened the second one and the centre of the ball was wet. Could this be from jiggling around in my shopping bags or could they be used?
Bizarre question I know, ha ha!

It's a genuine question, I'm not being sarcastic. I've only recently started buying roll ons, but I thought they were suppose to be dry when you first opened them.0

Thank you, it really was a genuine question, I've only recently started buying roll ons and I thought they were suppose to be dry when you first opened them, so I thought it was a little bit odd that they wasn't. I didn't think someone had rolled it on their pits in the middle of the store, but maybe someone had rolled it on their hand or wrist to test the smell.0
