Kids Kindle Fire

Hello,
I want to buy a 16GB Kindle Fire for my two children. The Kids version with 2 year guarantee and no questions asked new if you break it is £99.99 everywhere at the moment. Last September/October they were £49.99 in Tesco but I didn't have the money to buy it then. Does anyone know if any sale/deals are coming up? I would really appreciate it as I could probably do with buying two as am sure they will only fight over one!! Thanks so much!

£59.99 on Amazon.

Sorry - just read your post again - you want a children's one. All you can do really is put one on your Wish List, register with Camel Camel Camel and you'll get an alert if the price drops.0 -
The main differences are the silicone case and the 2 year NQA guarantee
The 8GB version(upgrade with a cheap SD card - if you need to) with adverts(unobtrusive - only on lock screen). is £49.99
The cheapest Kindle Fire is quite sturdy and unless you drop it screen first onto a sharp corner it's going to last a long time
I have one and my dd has had one for just over 2 years now(she's 8 and prone to tantrums - the threat of working in the peat bogs has fixed this somewhat)0 -
As above.
I bought 2 standard 8gb ones last summer for my 2 kids when they were £35 each, then got a couple of the EVA foamy covers for a tenner each. Total spend of £90 for effectively 2 kids fire tablets. OK i don't have the 2 yr warranty, but for that price compared to £100 each for the kids version, who cares. I was tempted to buy a 3rd one before xmas when they were just £30, just to stick in a drawer as a spare in case one breaks, but never got round to it.0 -
Do you still get the free year of Kids Unlimited with the kids' ones? If you do, I'd go for a kids' one if your kids aren't too old for it. There is a LOT of stuff on there! I now pay £5/month (Prime) for the family subscription to it, so the cost of the free year is worth factoring in if you think you'd use it.
If your kids aren't very close in age, you might be able to use the time limits on their profiles to avoid fighting, if you just want to get one device. You can't set multiple blocks of time limits, but you could so something like say your first child could use it between 4pm and 6pm and the second child between 6pm and 8pm.
I don't know whether they'll go down in price but unless you need them straight away, I'd wait and see for a while, just in case.0 -

I've not used, or felt the need for the kids unlimited stuff, i just installed the standard android app store,

Then have access to all android apps rather than being limited to just amazon stuff. More content than they'll ever need and all free0 -

It's not just apps. It includes a lot of videos and books too - you set an age range and it'll show appropriate stuff. Giving young children unrestricted access to the app store isn't something I'd do but I do like them to independently select and use things. Obviously it depends on the age of the child and their interests. For us, without Kids Unlimited the Kindles wouldn't really be used.0 -
