Hi everyone
Sorry if I sound dumb writing this but i am rather confused as to when I will get paid
I have been employed by a London NHS trust as a RMN and I read through the contract explaining pay dates. The date is 25th of each month and paid in arrears.
I am due to start on 13 Feb.
So what exactly does arrears mean?
Will i get some sort of partial payment for half a month? Does anyone know about shift pay schedules in NHS generally are ie will i be paid from 1st to 23rd and paid on the 25th or is it a different schedule?
Sorry newly qualified and HR have not to got back at me!
Cheers :money:

Paid in arrears means you get paid after you do the work, so you work a month, then get paid.0

Depends when the cut off date for payroll is, only HR can tell you. Shift payments in my experience are paid the month after the shift worked so February hours paid in March but again your employer is the only one who knows.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If your first payment isn't going to be until the end of March because you've missed the deadline for payroll, then you can ask for an advance. They're not obliged to do so, but might agreed to it.
However, if your Feb hours weren't going to be paid until March, and your March hours are paid in April, an advance is less likely to be forthcoming.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
what you need to do is look on te trusts web site for the pay schedule documents if they have them.
eg. google NHS pay periods and pay days "trust name here"
here is one for southern

IME with the NHS the pay period is calendar and the pay date is near the last day of the month.
The base pay is for that period and the enhancements/expenses depends on the time sheet cutoff date which varies by trust.
One thing you have to do is check your pay every month as there are a lot of places in the system it can go wrong.0 -
The enhancements are generally a month or two behind, ours go up to approximately the 15th of the month and then get paid the month after (on the 23rd)
Generally your very first pay working in the trust is basic only (and pay be part month as you've started midmonth) the enhancements can take a while to catch up0
