Is anyone else having problems getting an access code

Hi

I have filed online returns since the facility was available - no problems whatsoever.

Tonight I went in and it said it would send me an access code to my phone. This was at 7ish. I have not received it yet. Anyone else experienced the same thing?

Helpline is no use - it just says they are busy and cuts you off

... and yes I know I should have done it in July...

    Two factor authentication has been in place for a while.

    Why you're trying to file your return with 5 hours to go until the deadline is beyond me.

    If it doesn't arrive, you'll have to try and convince HMRC that you couldn't log in due to their error in order to avoid paying the £100 penalty.

    NO- are you certain you entered the correct phone number. Normally it comes through (with a horrid computer/American voice) within 1 - 2 minutes

    A quick search on Twitter does seem to indicate other people are having trouble getting access codes. This could be isolated to specific mobile networks.

    I failed to get an access code one night last week from the pensions part of the gov.uk site. No problem, though with SA part yesterday afternoon when I did a late check that my father's tax was all in order.

    I've had 3 access codes sent in the last few days. Last one was yesterday at 3pm.

    Every one has arrived within 10 seconds of the request (to an iPhone on Virgin Mobile)
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
