Interview/resignation whilst off sick

Hi all,
I have been signed off work for the past 2 weeks with anxiety, stress and depression and I have now been signed off for a further 2 weeks. My anxiety and stress is work related, but I feel bad because I have read some horror stories on various forums about people being bullied or harrassed at work but mine is more focussed on the fact that at work I feel completely unsupported, lacking in training/knowledge in my role/sector and have work piled on me which led me to feel unable to cope and completely out of my depth every time I stepped foot in the place. This is exaccerbated by the fact that it often takes me around 1.5 hours on public transport each way to get to and from work, which is taking it's toll on my personal life.
However in this case my boss is lovely, really supportive of me being signed off and I don't feel as if she is to blame for my work related issues as she herself is bombarded with work by the company. I feel horrible about having anxiety and stress with my role (which is quite junior) when I can see other more senior staff members being under much more stress but coping fine
.
Having had the time off to think I feel that maybe the job/company is just not for me as it's causing these issues and I might be better off in another (simpler) role so I have sent my CV out to a few places in the last couple of days. They have also referred me to OH to see if any adjustments can be made but to be honest I feel like this would not change how I feel.
I have since been invited to attend an interview in a job that I think I would find more managable and it's also much closer to home which is what I think I need right now. My question is does it look bad to go to an interview whilst on sick leave? If I was offered this new job, how could I broach this with my current manager without hurting her feelings about my reasons for leaving?
Would the company be able to give me a bad reference/disclose my current period of being signed off to my new employer?
Alternatively I'm thinking to just hand my notice in anyway even without another job to go to as it could avoid some of the difficult conversations with a manager I actually really like?
Hopefully you can help:huh::huh::huh:

Your employer could say how much sick time that you've had, any reference can be bad if it is an accurate reflection of your time there.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

So that's what you would say

Basically be honest. If the jobs not for you then tell them.
they are more likely to respect you and appreciate the heads up and open recruitment now, than in 2 weeks (or more)0
